The cliche's keep coming. Eric would have been embarassed to appear
in this episode way back when. =A0 No show has escaped an occasional
dud. But they should be rare, and do no permanent damage. In some cases,
their weakest shows still beat out another show's best. =A0 =A0 =A0 =A0
We never knew for sure why the mom crashed. Did she black out? =A0 The
guy was a coward, but understandably overwhelmed. It was no surprise
that he wouldn't come. Next time, order takeout!=A0
I'm an uncle. That would be a lot for me. Fortunately, I'm not
that close in the line. There are several relatives older than me.
Also, the kids have adult siblings. So I wouldn't be called for child
care immediately.
Still, it upset me when my pastor did a series on parenting. In
one message, he compared parents to coaches. Assistants included:
grandparents, teachers, and church leaders. Aunts and uncles weren't
even mentioned. We're assistant coaches too!
Is that social worker now a recurring character? Wouldn't she
have a emergency number to call? It looked like the man and child
bonded over music. At least she didn't learn the truth. What if her
real mom ever turns up?
=A0=A0=A0=A0 Brennan was up front. I still don't like his
relationship with Neela. It goes in at least the top ten of worst ER
couplings. Sadly, Neela might be on the list more than once. She
wouldn't be the only one. How many doctors got frustrated with
paperwork? =A0 A few should have stuck to it. =A0 Cate was gone again.
=A0 There should be a rule to not list someone in the credits if they're
not appearing. It's not like they still ran characters in the opening
credits.=A0 I kept expecting her to pop in. =A0 What if she'd needed to
be a patient? That might have made a better episode.
=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0I didn't care for the Tony and Sam relationship
either. =A0 But right now they should make up, or find other jobs. =A0
Sam was here first. =A0 Yet both are equally pains in the rear. =A0 Did
Tony convince Mr. Malcolm to have the surgery? =A0 At least we were
spared Sam telling Brennan, "I told you so."
=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0What's the deal with Morris and Claudia? =A0 She
shouldn't have sprung the party on him. =A0 I've never heard of
Superhero Gary. Maybe he's local. =A0 But we got Mr. Rogers meets
Superman. =A0 I don't remember many super heroes with facial hair. =A0
One was Green Arrow. He didn't have the goatee initially. =A0 I remember
a storyline where he shaved. That was awhile back.
=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0Yet the bored kids finding a new hero has been done
before. It's a sitcom plot. Family Matters and The Good Life did it.
=A0 (The latter was a short-lived NBC sitcom. Drew Carey was a costar.)
=A0 I wonder if the HMO will pay now.
=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0Are hospitals this lax about spectators?
=A0 We had Brennan taking Lucy out. Don't nurses usually send family
members out? She was in there much too long. =A0 Claudia's family got to
see their new hero. Common sense has been sacrificed for dramatic impact
before. =A0 That would be a very long post.
This episode could have been much better. A few recent ones
would suggestion doing another season. Here, the feeling remains to
stop the misery. Would you like to see Cate make it until the last
show? Or have her move on, and focus on the old gang? At least
Carter's coming back. Eric should have demanded a better script. I
hope his onscreen appearance has one.
Sincerely,
Darren Thornton
