Who was the American Idol reject that was screaching at the end of
tonights episode?

It was so bad I can't call it singing....

It actually makes many of the American Idol rejects sound downright
good.

I can hear Simon screaming enough.

That was horrific, wasn't it? That's not a bad song ("Battleflag",
Lo-Fidelity All-Stars) either. I think it was a child singing, which
made no sense to me. I only caught the last ~5 minutes of the ep though....

And you know what the worst part of it is....I just watched a
commercial for the new season of Idol where they show some of
the worst acts. And even those, the worst of the worst,
were better than the awful screatcher on ER tonight.

Ok, I was finally able to bring myself to watch the entire episode, and
yes, in context it in fact totally worked, as others in this thread have
stated. I hereby formally retract my above criticism of Thursday's
episode's Obligatory Song At The End Of The Show.

Now if you will all excuse me, I gotta launder my karma.

Hey, be kind. It was the actress (supposedly 5 years old) who played
the part of the foster child with the severe eye problem. I liked it
because it was a child singing, and because when she sang for Abby, it
was really emotional.

Wait until she grows up - you-all may be eating your words.

Just because she has the ability to open her mouth does not mean
she should sing. Even with the eye problem does not mean
I have to like her singing. Last time I looked we still had
freedom in this country to not like some music.

Not all child singers are good.

I would add that I am the first to admit that I can't sing.
So save the world from torture by not singing.

I agree Nancy, taken in context of the episode the singing was very sweet.
It was a little girl who was very strong for a 5 year old who had been
kicked around the Foster Care system and has a serious vision problem to
boot. If she could sing to keep up her spirits and help lift someone
elses--the quality of her voice doesn't even come into play. A little girl
singing. Period. It is like a mom singing a lullaby to her baby. The baby
doesn't care if mom can't carry a tune in a bucket, but the baby is
comforted by the sound of mamma's voice.

Then let her sing in the privacy of her own shower. Don't subject
the rest of the world to what is the equivalant of scraping
finger nails accross a black board.

This is a drama about a hospital, not American Idol. She sang in tune and
did a fine job for a child her age. I watched another program last night and
turned to ER during the commercials. I caught this scene and it touched me.

Children sing to calm themselves. It would be cruel to criticize every child
who doesn't sing up to your standards when they do this.

If a person doesn't want to be subjected to unpleasant things--ER is not the
show for that person. Most medical emergencies are unpleasant for everyone
involved. People respond to difficult situations in different ways. I
would rather hear the scratchy voice of a five year old singing than a drunk
screaming, swearing, vomiting, fighting and lashing out at the doctors and
nurses. We have seen all that and much more over the years of watching ER.
