I know the psychiatric symptoms.....I was a psych nurse for 35 years.
I just wonder if they are going to drag this s/l out for months in the
next season. She definately should be treated inpatient!
Speaking of exploding ambulances........who was in it? Sam or Greg??
Interesting question. The sides that are going for the first episodes
of next season suggesting that Archie is mourning Pratt could be
foilers. It feels to me like if we knew for sure one of the two were
in the ambulance, we'd have heard about that actor leaving through the
more official-ish sources by now -- as in, like, exit interviews with
Ausiello and/or E!'s Kristin. I almost want to say that somebody else
at the ER climbed into the ambulance said, "Hey, bro, sis -- you can
stop arguing now. I'm going." The most obvious one to pull something
like that would be Archie (or Anspaugh's nephew). But perhaps Pratt's
brother was finishing up bringing in his own ambulance run and jumped
in.

So my suspects right now are (in declining order of likelihood):

1. Pratt
2. Archie
3. Pratt's brother
4. Anspaugh's asshole nephew.
5. Sam

An ambulance exploded on ER, that "other" medical drama, on NBC.

Steve Buscemi plays an alcoholic accountant who's in witless
protection in exchange for testimony about laundering money for the
Turkish Mob (He and family are stowed away in one of the Dakotas, but
snuck back to Chi-town to go to his mother's funeral). One hitman
tries to garotte him in one of the exam beds out in the circle after
Pratt had closed the drape to give him some privacy/hide him with
regular uni police guarding the place in zone defense mode. The mere
presence of his US Marshal (played by Gray from Jericho) gives him so
much anxiety that he has a heart attack. Much infighting ensues
between Buscemi, the Marshal and Pratt & Sam (both of whom have kinda
become attached to Buscemi) about moving him to a secure location
(which might cause another heart attack in transit) or leaving him at
the hospital (which puts everybody in the ER in continuing risk). The
Marshal makes the decision to move him anyway. Both Pratt and Sam
want to make sure that somebody with medical training is in the back
of the bus (ambulance) with him in case he has a heart attack in
transit.

One of the regular paramedics on the show is sitting on the bumper of
the ambulance. Pratt notices that it has a bumper sticker that he's
never seen before. The paramedic says that it's not his regular bus,
he was told that his bus had some sort of problem with the alternator
that he was unsure about. Buscemi's brought out on the stretcher and
loaded into the ambulance. Pratt & Sam both argue with the Marshal
about accompanying them in the back of the bus and the Marshal says
that they have room for only one more. So which one of you want to
go?

Next scene is an extended scene of Abby and Luke reconciling while
walking through a park in the Real Chicago. Big kiss and everything.
Then we see Abby starting to walk back to County across Real Chicago
and she walks past an ambulance stopped in traffic. They blatantly
show us the bumper sticker as she passes by. About 5 seconds later
(enough time for her to cross the street and be maybe a half a block
away). The bus explodes. fade to black and end credits.

So where we stand: we don't know whether it was Pratt or Sam or
someone else who accompanied the Marshal in the back of the bus. For
all we know, Pratt's brother, who we find out at the top of the
episode has just been accepted into med school, could have been
finishing up a run and volunteered to go just to stop Pratt and Sam
from arguing. Or, heck, Archie might have done that. We also don't
know how far away Abby was from the blast, probably as far away as
Tony was from Neela when she was trampled at the protest two seasons
ago, but maybe she gets tagged by shrapnel. Maura Tierney *has* said
that she wants Abby to get killed off, but she's supposedly still
going to be in the first few episodes of next season. Rumor has it
that sides are going about for the third episode of next season where
Archie is still in mourning over Pratt, so unless that side is a
foiler, they may have needed Tierney to stay around to have Abby run
the ER as Chief Attending until she's presented with whatever reason
Luka has to have to move out of Chicago (such as, say, a really good
job offer in Washington state or Oregon or wherever it is that Doug
and Carol moved to. ;) )

Interesting thing about the explosion, though. We have yet to hear of
anyone in the lead credits save Abby/Tierney leaving the show next
season other and even then, Tierney's supposed to be leaving after a
handful of episodes.

So one possible scenario I see: the sides are a foiler and what
happened was the Marshal picked up on the bumper sticker thing or
otherwise had a plan to switch Buscemi and everybody into another
ambulance under an overpass, etc. So they've made room for credible
cop-outtage.

There are multiple scenes from the first 3 eppies that reference Pratt's
death, including scenes of Pratt in the ER with his coworkers sitting at his
bedside as they wait for an EEG to be repeated to confirm he is brain dead.
Other scenes include Neela and Dubenko leaving for a funeral. Morris, Abby,
Neela, Bettina and Chaz talking about his death in multiple different scenes
and one scene where Neela talks about his death in a phone conversation
while staring at a photo of Pratt on the cover of the program from his
funeral. If he ain't dead, TPTB sure have wasted a lot of scenes pretending
that he is.

Abby gets a job in Boston at Mass General, a teaching hospital affiliated
with Harvard, natch, and moves there with Luka after working just one shift
as an attending at County. No word on where Luka will be working.

Not to mention that MP leaving hasn't been a secret at all. It's been around
since before the strike, which just delayed it.

They've been around in spoilers from casting sides for some time, and
MP leaving has been pretty common knowledge too.

The only thing I'd question is Abby having a job in Boston; we know
they're moving to Boston but I haven't seen anythng about which of
them (if either) has the job there.

Take a look at the sides for episode 3. Abby specifically tells Neela that
she got a job at Mass General.

\
They are posted at sites designed for actors looking for jobs. It requires
payment of a subscription fee to access the actual sides which are used for
auditions. Those of us who've been around awhile have managed to find ways
to access them, but there's no public site where they can be found intact.
Many of the spoilers found online for almost every TV show are the result of
someone reading the sides and posting the details. Scripts are copyrighted,
to post the sides themselves is illegal.

Ah, sharon(s)? As a real-life (read: pretend) practicing physician,
where exactly do you get the time to be skulking around "sites designed
for actors looking for jobs" and finding ways to break into them, solely
to feed your Pathological Abby Hate Disorder (PAHD)? Or is it actually
worse than that: are you also pretending to be an actor and *paying* for
access to such sites?

Pretend physician or not, you should realize that whatever the answer,
it's pretty pathetic.

Yeah, that's clever. For those here who aren't aware of the quality of
individual we have in our friend sharon here: What (s)he is referring to
here is the time we were discussing MRIs. She was pretending to be a
doctor (yes, again), and claiming that MRIs can't be used to detect
atherosclerosis (yes, seriously!). My withering ridicule actually
reduced her to calling my *mother* names. Yeah, just like she was in
seventh grade or something. What names did you call my mom again
sharon(s)? For those who don't know you like I know you, you know.

from the real) with the same pathological obsession that sharon(s) does.
That is, unless you also fabricate whole scripts that never existed,
in some pathetic attempt to make AL/MT "look bad". Yeah, no lie. Then
when these fake "spoilers" sharon puts out don't actually appear on
screen, she babbles, "Oh, my Sources told me that Maura demanded
last-minute script changes. What a bitch, huh?"

Yes, I am serious. Scary, huh?

No, you just made the second time up. You know, in exactly the same way

With all due respect Xena, you most certainly do not hate Abby Lockhart
/ Maura Tierney (yep, sharon's unable to differentiate the fictional
from the real) with the same pathological obsession that sharon(s) does.
I have to say that when I took the Warner Studio tour in August of
2004, my group was allowed to watch a little bit of the filming of a
scene at the Jumbo Mart (when Neela was going through her funk and
working there). Actually, we weren't allowed to actually see inside
the JM -- we were about half a block down the street to the right of
the Jumbo Mart and across the street from it. Basically, we were
across the street from the video village -- wasn't as bad as it sounds
as Noah Wyle walked all the way over from the ambulance bay to the
video village to look at footage, say high, etc.

All of the day players and extras for other scenes, from the looks of
them in the exterior of the ambulance bay entrance to the ER, were
having their downtime under the awning of a storefront. We stood
right next to them. One of the guys was dressed as a paramedic,
looked italian. This was just after the season 2 championship of
Celebrity Poker Showdown had aired and I was just talking to our tour
guide that "Well, I like Maura Tierney, but she didn't so much win as
Lauren Graham let herself lose because Tierney was clearly waaaaay too
blitzed to know what she was doing and Lauren was just overthinking
it." And this Paramedic guy comes over and says underneath his
breath, "You didn't hear it from me, but Maura Tierney is a cunt."

Naturally, the guide's face turned ghost white -- I'm sure he was
conflicted about whether or not to report an extra for dissing a lead
so nastily in front of a fan was a good thing to do for the sake of
supporting the show or a bad thing for possibly trying to get a guy
fired -- but all I could think about the paramedic guy was "Fucking
extra; what an asshole!" (Okay, he was a day player, but still,
that's a glorified extra.)

Anybody who's a fan of NewsRadio knows that practically everyone on
that show adores (present tense) Maura Tierney -- and moreover, that
they *all* got along fairly well (with, you know, the normal level of
"what-the-fuck?-ness" about Andy Dick, BID.) And the number of
commentary tracks that the actors were doing (at least NR's s1/2 set
had been released by this point) and Tierney *and* the rest of the
cast contributed a huge number of commentaries to that set simply due
to the affection that everyone from that show still has for everyone
else. (And, mind you, this is in a climate in which most actors were
deliberately NOT doing commentary tracks in protest against not
getting DVD and/or New Media residuals.)

So anyway, this is my way of wondering, "Is 'Sharon' really that
paramedic-guy Day Player?" She sure sounds like him.

No-one is universally liked and there is no reason why they should
be. There is hardly a person alive (well OK, I'll give you Robert
Mugabe) who doesn't attract feelings of both lve and loathing.
Generally it's the lover or loather who determines which side of the
line they fall, rther than any objective criteria. Day player had his
opinion, although it seems pretty unprofessional of him to express it
in such terms - or at all in fact - in those circumstances. Unsought
and uncalled for.

Doc Sharon and I have participated in exchanges which amply
demonstrate our ongoing mutual loathing of each other, but I don't
believe that her medical credentials are pretended, nor that she is
more than one person.

With that you're wrong. In the medical area as a well as other
fields there are a number of extremely competent, extremely smart,
women who have their act together. I'm very dissappointed that
Abby is not one of those women. In this post Buffy era I expect women
to be written so they aren't a a train wreck waiting to happen.

Sure they can have flaws but the writters went way off the deep end
with the flaws for Abby Yet with all these flaws there no
consequences when she screws up. Exhibit A: compare Abby's
alcohol abuse to the way Carter was treated. Carter gets
in deep trouble while Abby skaetes free. That still troubles
me today and Carter has been gone how long now?

I'd almost like to see Carter come back and sue the hospital.
He'd have a winning case for discrimination.

You do realize shows create "fake" spoilers to throw fans off the
scent?

Also that some fans can watch a thirty second trailer of
xxxxxxxxx show and come pretty darn close to predict the
entire show/movie? That is how predictable the writing is.

Oh and Sharon also has access to script sides which
have alot of these "spoilers."

Oh, it's a DtH thing. I killfiled it long ago. Should have guessed.

It should really go to other sites that post summaries of script sides
before it makes assumptions that Sharon is making things up. It would find
that they are either the same, or also happen to be making the very same
scripts up.

DTH wanted to join, but he wasted so much money on unnecessary MRI's
that he couldn't afford the dues. It's made him bitter.
How quickly he forgets! What we were actually talking about was paying for
total body MRI's in order to diagnose disease. DTH was telling us how
fabulous it was that his mom paid several hundred bucks in cash for an MRI
of her heart which detected cholesterol plaques, which lead her to have a
$12 blood test to discover that her cholesterol was elevated and get
medication prescribed for that. He was seriously recommending that it was a
great idea to pay out of pocket hundreds of bucks for the MRI rather than
just having the $12 cholesterol check. I don't disagree that MRI's can find
atherosclerosis, I did think it wasn't exactly cost effective in comparison
to other methods.

My withering ridicule actually

I believe I said the apple didn't fall far from the tree. As I recall, you
didn't tell us it was your mom who came up with this brilliant scheme until
well into the discussion after I pointed out that paying for an MRI in order
to find out one's cholesterol was elevated was not exactly sensible or cost
effective.

Exactly what proof do you have that Doc Sharon and I are making things up?
Perhaps you need to go back in a.t.e. history and read posts instead of just
making up things yourself. Check out the nicknames we went by around here
when it was a popular group. I don't know where your Viet Nam insult comes
from, but it has nothing to do with us.

Check with Dawn, or Phyl if you need witness accounts. But I'm sure you'll
find a way to make them fictional as well. That's IT! We're all fictional,
like the voice of Hal in 2001 Space Odyssey. See, it's you that has been

Sounds like my SIL's house! I have to bring a sweater. She keeps it
downright arctic in there! Also sounds like a lot of the restaurants around
here. Do they realize we are wearing shorts and t-shirts? Do they keep it
so cold, for the staff? Brrrr. Even in the middle of summer, you better
bring a sweater to the restaurant with you. Sarah got to go to New Orleans
for one day, during spring break. She went down on a mission trip to work
on Katrina homes in Biloxi, MS. They got to spend a few hours in New
Orleans. She got to eat gumbo and she brought some pralines home. (Yum!)
She'd love to go back.

Ugh, 100 degrees and high humidity? I'll stay in WI, where it was only in
the 70's today, with low humidity. It's been a cool summer, up here.

We've had fun this summer, with a firework phobic dog. Can you say not
wanting to go outside, or stay outside, and concurrent messes in the living
room. Ugh. She is, for the most part, over this, and is back to doing her
business outside, but it was maddening for a few days.

We are also having fun watching monarch caterpillars grow on the milkweed
plants that sprouted by our garage. I counted 5 newly hatched ones, today.

We woke up in our hotel in the morning to a choking stench. Turns out an oil

contents into the Miss. River outside our hotel (The Hilton Riverfront).
Glad we had an early flight (sad we got delayed for hours on end at JFK).

We woke up in our hotel in the morning to a choking stench. Turns out an
oil barge/tanker was rammed by a tug boat and split in half spilling the
entire contents into the Miss. River outside our hotel (The Hilton
Riverfront). Glad we had an early flight (sad we got delayed for hours on
end at JFK).

I've met Sharontoo! (and her hubby and the kids, and the office where
they all work!)
(waves) Hi Dawn!
Just back from a veterinary conference in new Orleans. Hardly had time
away from the seminars. FROZE from the super-duper air conditioning in
the convention center. Whoda thunk we'd go to New Orleans in July and
complain of the cold! (it *was* nearly 100 outside with obscene
humidity, but we rarely got to enjoy it).
Anyway, hello from 'fictional' western NY.
-Sharontoo (or maybe Doc, or southern Sharon.....) ;-)
Sounds like my SIL's house! I have to bring a sweater. She keeps it
downright arctic in there! Also sounds like a lot of the restaurants
around here. Do they realize we are wearing shorts and t-shirts? Do
they keep it so cold, for the staff? Brrrr. Even in the middle of
summer, you better bring a sweater to the restaurant with you. Sarah got
to go to New Orleans for one day, during spring break. She went down on
a mission trip to work on Katrina homes in Biloxi, MS. They got to spend
a few hours in New Orleans. She got to eat gumbo and she brought some
pralines home. (Yum!) She'd love to go back.
Ugh, 100 degrees and high humidity? I'll stay in WI, where it was only
in the 70's today, with low humidity. It's been a cool summer, up here.
We've had fun this summer, with a firework phobic dog. Can you say not
wanting to go outside, or stay outside, and concurrent messes in the
living room. Ugh. She is, for the most part, over this, and is back to
doing her business outside, but it was maddening for a few days.
We are also having fun watching monarch caterpillars grow on the milkweed
plants that sprouted by our garage. I counted 5 newly hatched ones, today.
Dawn
Ewwwwww!

We've got it worse here in San Diego. Paris Hilton has invaded
Comic-Con and is stenching up the place (which is no mean feat, given
that Comic-Con is attended by 125K nerds who have never heard of
anti-perspirant.) For the first time ever, I almost want to end my
vacation early and go back home to Missouri. Almost. But there's a
Stargate panel today and Lost and Heroes panels tomorrow.

Take a look at the sides for episode 3. Abby specifically tells Neela that
she got a job at Mass General.
Sharon
Where does one find these "sides?"
I keep hearing the term but have yet to find where these sides
are hiding.
FTR, certain shows have used foilers *as* the audition sides.

There are multiple scenes from the first 3 eppies that
reference Pratt's death, including scenes of Pratt in the ER
with his coworkers sitting at his bedside as they wait for an
EEG to be repeated to confirm he is brain dead. Other scenes
include Neela and Dubenko leaving for a funeral. Morris,
Abby, Neela, Bettina and Chaz talking about his death in
multiple different scenes and one scene where Neela talks
about his death in a phone conversation while staring at a
photo of Pratt on the cover of the program from his funeral.
If he ain't dead, TPTB sure have wasted a lot of scenes
pretending that he is.
Abby gets a job in Boston at Mass General, a teaching hospital
affiliated with Harvard, natch, and moves there with Luka
after working just one shift as an attending at County. No
word on where Luka will be working.

You should watch it. It's a good show, especially with Richard

Um, yeah, Alison, there's nothing for our friend sharon on Grey's
Anatomy. I.e., Abby Lockhart is not a character on the show, nor is
Maura Tierney an actress on the show. shaorn(s) watches ER not because
she likes it, but because she is pathologically obsessed with Maura
Tierney and the fictional characters portrayed thereby. Even sadder,
sharon(s) isn't able to separate the character from the real person.

Well, maybe that isn't as sad as it sounds after all: it cuts the amount
of work sharon(s) has to put into her hate in half.

The mere
presence of his US Marshal (played by Gray from Jericho) gives him so
much anxiety that he has a heart attack.
Both Pratt and Sam
want to make sure that somebody with medical training is in the back
of the bus (ambulance) with him in case he has a heart attack in
transit.
Don't hospitals usually have a special floor for "high" profile
patients like senators, people in custody where they are
away from the prying eyes of the general population/the press?

Of course maybe Abby and others opted to take the subway instead
of the bus?

Nope, most hospitals cannot afford that kind of stuff, especially not a
County hospital which is depicted on the show as being the last place where
anyone with a choice would want to be a patient. County probably does have
a jail ward where he could be locked in, though.

Some private hospitals that cater to a wealthier clientele do have
arrangements for VIP patients. At Cleveland Clinic, there's a VIP floor
with patient rooms with oriental rugs, antique furniture and picture windows
with views of the city. The patients there don't receive regular hospital
food, either, instead ordering from the menu at the 5 star restaurant at the
Clinic hotel. Many of the patients there are royalty from various Middle
Eastern countries, Scott Hamilton was also a patient there when he was
treated for his cancer.

No subways in Chicago, it's the El, short for 'elevated'.

What exploding ambulance?
Steve Buscemi plays an alcoholic accountant who's in witless
protection in exchange for testimony about laundering money for the
Turkish Mob (He and family are stowed away in one of the Dakotas, but
snuck back to Chi-town to go to his mother's funeral).
In other words, he had the Steve Buscemi role?
Post by Rob Jensen
One of the regular paramedics on the show is sitting on the bumper of
the ambulance. Pratt notices that it has a bumper sticker that he's
never seen before.

whatever reason Luka has to have to move out of Chicago (such as, say,
a really good job offer in Washington state or Oregon or wherever it is that Doug
and Carol moved to. ;) )
I'm pretty sure that would be the episode by guest writer Robert A
Heinlein. :)

...And then the Airship 'Gay Deceiver' pops out of elswere, the side
hatch opens and Abby & Luka look up to see Doug Ross reaching a hand
down and gesturing to climb inside.

Upon scrambling into the aircar (which from the outside looks like it
could hold no more than half a dozen in a pinch) they find themselves
deposited on the floor of the Ladies restroom, or 'fresher, by Lazuras
Long and obviously the car is bigger on the inside than on the out....

"Didn't you idiots see that helicopter falling right for your heads?"
Cpt Long asked in an exasperated manner...

But perhaps Pratt's
brother was finishing up bringing in his own ambulance run and jumped
in.
1. Pratt
---
Most likely but I do have inside info unfortunately, but it could be a foiler.
Post by Rob Jensen
2. Archie
---
I don't think so. There was no emotional connection to Artie like Pratt and Sam had.
Post by Rob Jensen
3. Pratt's brother
---
Possible.
Post by Rob Jensen
4. Anspaugh's asshole nephew.
---
No, I wish it was! He was busy having sex with my girl Neela! >:-<
Post by Rob Jensen
5. Sam
---
I dont think so since they are shipping her with Gates.

The real question is did Abby walk out of range of the explosion in three seconds she
walked off screen and the ambulance exploding?

It looked like it. At least she heard and felt the explosion. I haven't read
all the spoilers up thus far for next season but I assume that Sam is in it
uninjured?? Is that right?

Yep, she's around and working. And, of course, Abby performs heroically in
the aftermath of the explosion, saving lives and walking on water.
