I just got done watching the two hour marathon episode of M*A*S*H (on
TV Land is so happens) and I was remembering how saddened I was at the
time.

from Wikipedia:
The series premiered on September 17, 1972, and ended February 28,
1983, with the finale becoming the most-watched television episode in
U.S. television history, with over 105 million viewers.[1] The show is
still broadcast in syndication on various television stations, mostly
during the late night/early morning hours. The series, which covered a
three-year conflict, spanned 251 episodes and lasted eleven seasons.

Watching the end of ER didn't garner even half the same emotional
result; in fact I missed the over the air broadcast and ended up
watching it over the Internet instead the next day.

Perhaps the case could be made for ER having stayed too long at the
party not that I doubt the actual cast failed to show up for work
everyday, but it's a fact that the show at the start wasn't the same
show in the middle let alone the last few years.

I still miss MASH, but what I miss of ER is the way it used to be.

To me, no series ending can top that of Newhart, with the scene from the
earlier "Bob Newhart Show".
