Julianna Margulies knows a Titanic when she sees one, won't be returning for final ER season

Nurse Hathaway Will Not Be Returning To ER

Julianna Margulies - who played George Clooney's eventual on-screen
lover - will not be returning to the set of ER this season, the show's
last.

Unlike most of the other ER alums, Margulies will not be reprising her
role as nurse Carol Hathaway. She left the show in 2000, turning down
a $27 million offer to remain for 3 more seasons, and returned home to
New York to pursue other projects. Translation: Live off her ER money
and do nothing much.

She says her decision to move on comes from the feeling that "I left
Carol Hathaway in the best scenario possible. I can't imagine making
it any better than that."

But we're sure the nurse's absence will leave fans disappointed, as
her plot line found itself tangled up with Clooney's dashing Dr. Doug
Ross. Clooney's return is likewise uncertain, despite a recent
reprisal and ratings boost Noah Wyle will be returning, along with
Eriq La Salle, who will also direct an episode.

Good idea, used to watch the show all the time and can't believe how
incredibly horrible it is this season.

I've seen her in *plenty* of projects since she retired from ER.
She's been busy.

I agree. She's been in feature films since ER, some cable mini-series
and movies and there was Canterbury's Law on Fox earlier this year.

The ungrateful sod. An actress of meager talent who was in the right
place at the right time.

Yeah, she's been busy since then, turning out a string of crummy work.

She really should. Her career's in the dumper, too, and the only good
thing she's ever done is ER. She should do it just for old times' sake,
and to make a couple of dollars on the side.
