I sure hope the writers are piling up scripts for when the strike's
over. There's been one good thing. Jay Leno's reruns are older than
last month. Why didn't they use classic reruns earlier? I know of a
few shows that I'd like to see again. Could you imagine
if NBC started rerunning classic ER? Suppose those episodes weren't
available on TNT or DVD sets. I'm curious. At what point would you
quit buying the ER sets? Some Andy Griffith Show fans probably skipped
the color years. Paramount could have sold a set of just Don Knotts' 5
guest appearances during that period.
Now here's my take on the last episode. I'd be very concerned
about using a hospital with such a high turnover rate. This doesn't
say for Anspaugh or any administrators. How realistic is all this? For
one, I won't miss Moretti.
My feelings about Skye are mixed. She's an outsider, Moretti's
hire. Her philosophy for balancing soft and tough has some merit. But
she's not really cut out for this job. I'd give it to Pratt if it meant
keeping the actor around. Does anyone sign long contracts anymore?
I could have done without her and Dubenko hooking up.
Ironically, John Sebastian sang backup on "Love The One You're With."
Hopefully his casualness here isn't also his surgical style. Perhaps
it's a release from the precise work.
Luka was once again wasted. Please get him back to work soon!
He's noticed the change in Abby. She may be the most selfish
character on this show. Benton could have occasionally
held that title. I understand her frustration. But calm down! As for
the brother, Luka should have probably returned alone. Reconnect with
Abby and Joe, then send for the brother. It looks like they'll be
returning to Croatia for his dad's funeral. That drinking party at
Neela's place was big time stupid. She should have went right home.
Tony channeled Uncle Jesse again. Both are Elvis fans. They
also had to deal with young girls. This bunch didn't go gaga over him.
When will Grandma visit? I expected the karate kid to have a
reaction to whatever he gave him. What if we saw more ER nurses say no
to the doctors? That dad called the kid sensitive. At least we didn't
hear another s word.
Tony could have said yes about having a kid. He's raising Sarah!
Those of us without kids may have less credibility. But there are some
stuff that even a non parent does know.
The main case was the worker and cleaning lady. Did he lose
his arm? Another irony is that Romano directed. Who said that she was
to blame? Where did the son get his racist attitude? Get all the facts
first! Too bad the father wasn't able to communicate right away. We
got to see Luka in another fight. It's not quite like old times yet.
Morris was his usual self. Clemente got mentioned. How would
you rate the various chiefs throughout the years? I don't want to hear
about Harold's love life. Shouldn't medical staff be more careful about
their conversations in the OR? I'd rather not hear the dental staff
talking about where they're going to lunch.
When will this train wreck end? What if they did a whole episode
in the break room? Someone's camped there studying or whatever.
Various folks come and go.
Luka was right about this being a good place to learn. But are
the best years really behind us? I hope not. This strike has to end
eventually. Where can we sign up to join the guild?

Sincerely,
Darren Thornton

They can't. They've been released to syndication and TNT.

Basically my understanding is NBC can only run this season and
what few episodes from last seaason they held back.

I'm hoping the strike ends in about seven years. And that by that
time the viewers forget to return to their favorite shows.

That the viewers will be too busy doing other stuff besides watching
tv shows like ER.

Regarding reruns, I was first talking about The Tonight Show.
Johnny Carson used to have reruns at least a year old. Once was after
Patrick Duffy became "the first human speed bump." That was Mr.
Carson's words. If my recollections are correct, the rerun was after
Pam had woken up.
We can see how far Jay Leno's show has come. Also, some things
haven't changed. The same comparison can be made with ER. A few
things are better. Other stuff shouldn't have changed.

There are several differences. The tonight show is not in
syndication, ER is. You can watch old episodes of ER on
TNT, DVD, or on your local station.

The only place you'll find old episodes of the Tonight Show
are in Johnny Carson's air conditioned vault under his house
in Iowa.

Some highlights are on DVD.

I just got season 6, the last one before things went all wonky (IMO).
Since I treat everything after that as... I don't know... a fever
dream or a Biercian fantasy, or possibly bad fanfic, that's my
stopping point.

As I recall, the "loose lips sink-- eh, never mind" policy has been
around at County since the first season.

When will this train wreck end?
Because there just isn't enough Richard Pryor on Usenet:

"How long! How long? How long will this bullshit go on?

"That is the eternal question man have always asked, 'How long?'

"When man first got here, he asked, 'How long will these animals
kick me in the ass? How long before I discover fire and stop freezing
to death?'"

Oh, give them time. The writers strike keeps going long enough, I'm
sure TPTB'll shove actors in the break room set and tell 'em to "wing
that mother".

It will be the episode where an out of control sattelite will crash into the
crowded breakroom, and the baby on board will bring everyone together.
