LOS ANGELES -- Dr. Mark Greene is coming back to "ER," but he's not coming back from the dead. Anthony Edwards will reprise the role of Greene, who died of a brain tumor at the end of the 2002 season, in flashback scenes in the Nov. 13 episode, NBC announced Thursday.

Dude, you're gonna get so bitched at, it's ridiculous...
It's pointless adding spoiler space to the message when the spoiler is
in the title. It's also pointless adding it to a reply (except in the
case of people who have killfiled the original person).

Personally I don't really care, but some people prefer not to know and
it's not as if it's difficult or hugely time consuming to do. It's
simply "newbieness" or laziness or selfishness that people do not
follow the rule of using spoiler space / "beeping" for information
about yet-to-air episodes or movies.

It doesn't matter how many times some idiot posts the news without
spoiler space, the point is that it's defined as a spoiler until the
episode airs / movie is released in the country of origin (or the home
country for the country-specific newsgroups). Only after that point is
it no longer considered a spoiler.

I don't know who you are or how long you've been around here, but, I've been
around for the better part of a decade. As I recall, anything published in
the mainstream media is not a spoiler as long as there are no details about
the nature of the role being played on the show.

You'd have to be living in a cave not to have heard this by now, it's been
on ET and other entertainment shows, in the paper, etc.

Re-read what I just said. It doesn't matter how many idiots post ir (or
where) it's still technically a spoiler until the episode actually
airs. :-\

For example, I have not seen that news ANYWHERE else, I haven't seen ET
for a while, etc. ... yes, I don't care less about spoilers, but many
people do and it's not hard or time consuming to add a few extra lines.

Says who? What constitutes a spoiler is generally determined by the group,
not by a single individual's opinion. As I recall, and, if I'm wrong
correct me, at this newsgroup, things that have appeared in the national
media are not considered spoilers.

NBC issued the press release, I don't know how much more legitimate a source
for this news there could be. If you really haven't heard this before now,
you need to get out more.

I haven't heard it before, as mentioned above, I don't watch entertainment
TV shows nor do I typically read entertainment news, unless it's posted in
a forum/newsgroup I read.

It's not "a single individual's opinion" ... it's a basic "rule" of
netiquette.

This info was posted in THIS newsgroup on September 4th and has 58
messages attached to it. So it had already been posted so what is the
big deal since this was the second time the info was posted?

And watch out if you watch NBC shows because all their promos of the
season premiere are major spoilers! Last night on America's Got
Talent, they spoiled something else regarding the explosion.
Something that was not in the promo on the Olympics opening ceremony
that also spoiled the season premiere.

Maybe...so be careful!

There were RUMOURS and educated guesses / wishes, not actual facts ..
but yet again, the fact that other selfish morons post something
anywhere without using spoiler space doesn't make it right or stop it
being a spoiler. It's a spoiler until the episode is actually bradcast!

You're full of crap. It was an article from KREN News in Reno and
posted here on September 4th.
http://www.kren.com/Global/story.asp?S=8957966

<Look who ER dug up to celebrate its final season: Dr. Mark Greene,
who died of a brain tumor in Hawaii back in 2002. Original cast member
Anthony Edwards signed a deal Wednesday night to reprise his popular
character for the Nov. 13 episode of the long-running NBC drama. [snip

And yet again the point is completely ignored. Let's try captials
letters:

IT'S STILL A SPOILER UNTIL THE EPISODE AIRS!!!!

:-\

As usual I'm going around the same circle again and again and again
because people simply can not read. I now give up wasting any more time
on this.

I thought, as a general rule around here, that anything reported in the
mainstream media is not considered a spoiler. This story has now been
kicking around the entertainment world for weeks and has been reported in
multiple places on TV, in magazines and newspapers. I don't see how anyone
could consider it a spoiler at this point. Unless the poster is revealing
details of Mark's role in the story, it ain't a spoiler 'round here.

For those who don't know, Mark is not returning from the dead. He will
appear as the ER doc who treats Banfield's young son for a serious illness
in a flashback set several years ago. Banfield is the name of the character
played by Angela Bassett.

Yes, but won't he look six years older than he did in 2002, since Anthony
Edwards is six years older, or will the producers be smart enough to
"de-age" him back to 2002 or earlier?

This was one of the best episodes of ER I have seen in YEARS. I
actually WATCHED it from beginning to end, instead of just having the TV
on as background noise while doing other things.

Ditto. Even though sometimes a little overacted or melodramatic. It seemed
like the old ER, and not just because of the cameos. JERRY!!!!!!!

Double-ditto. And I'm not just saying that because they had the good
sense to bring back Kubiak. Although that alone totally made the episode.

Still, it's depressing to know that TEERPTB can still deliver, and that
they simply choose not to.
