Well, we got to see some old friends. They've been missed. Yet
most got sorry finales. It was a reminder of the glory days. What
happened? Talk about bittersweet! One, the cameos were too brief.
Two, it's sad that we can't really turn the clock back. At what
point does the dream start?
My biggest problem was trying to fit the story in
chronologically. Things seemed rather murky. Dr. Greene died during
Season 8. This episode has him already diagnosed with cancer. I
heard mention of chemotherapy.
Things aren't going so well with Elizabeth. Too bad we didn't get
to see her. I thought he was diagnosed after they got married. We
could use a handy "fact checker" here.
Dr. Weaver's cameo was "blink and you'll miss it" brief.
Romano is cranky and has two arms. Would some in-jokes have been fun?
Have him talk of his love of helicopters. She has a hot date-with a
guy. Mark could tell how well-behaved Rachel was. I thought Jerry
didn't come back until Season 8. Too bad he's apparently stayed in
Alaska.
We got our first hint of this story from Haleh. She's the
other link to the flashback. How many patients does this hospital see
in a year? You know only a fraction get shown. What are the odds of
her remembering Cate? Her hair was longer back then. Of course,
some cases would probably be harder to forget. I was
reminded of a poem from college. Unfortunately, the name and author
escape me. It was about a couple's different response to losing a
child. The mother's still heartbroken. The father's a little more
matter-of-fact. He even dug the child's grave.
I'm surprised that this marriage hasn't already ended. Russell
has about finally reached the breaking point. At the end, things
appear to have turned. It will be interesting to see any changes in
Cate. If we see none, we're in sitcom land.
Her professional experience definitely clouded her judgment.
Yet Daryl couldn't be saved. Perhaps some time at County earlier
would have changed her attitude. Not all hospitals have lots of
equipment.
I get the feeling that they never set foot here in all those
years. Maybe they went farther if they needed medical treatment. She
said that she rarely left her apartment for two years. How did that
affect her training? At some point she got more. The tsunami was a
wake-up call. Note that they had no more children.
Cate's treated other children since her tragedy. But this
case did something to her. It helped that she had a good team.
Tracy actually did some doctoring. Who was the Spanish-speaking nurse?
Where was Chuny? It was probably best that Haleh remained in the
flashbacks.
Which doctor would you most likely open to? Morris might
not be my first choice. I hope he was off duty. Still, beer in the
lounge is scary. Hopefully no patients could get in there. It was
still a nice moment.
The flashback took up most of the time. But other characters
also got some moments. Sam and Tony's new arrangements aren't going so
well. PLEASE don't have them come home and find fake Alex and Sarah
kissing! I'll leave it at that. We heard no arguments about the
toilet seat or toothpaste tube.
There was the moment of going the extra mile for a patient.
Max didn't seem that interested. Will he return?
Tony shouldn't use all his favors with Cate too soon.
It's time for another Uncle Jesse moment! He hated that Danny
Tanner loved to hug. Remember what Cate did to that would-be robber.
Anyone hugging her might get much worse.
So DuBenko and Cate talked about Neela. They can use first
names. Yes, she does micromanage. But Andrew needed some help. As
I recall, some procedures forbid eating anything red. Lime seems to be
the most common Jello flavor in hospitals. Dairy products can also
cause problems.
Poor Andrew gave too much information. Yet he left out an
important detail. Maybe interns should get help from literary
professors. Cate showed some sympathy there. Still, none of us wants
to be the patient that good doctor kills. Ditto for our loved ones.
This was a better episode than the last one. Maybe the old
friends improved some writing skills. Give Frank his space back! We
also got to see Eric's tribute to Michael Crichton. Hopefully Dr.
Benton will return soon. We could have a list of which characters to
keep away. Cleo is one. Let's hear your choices too.
Sincerely,
