The good thing about ER these days

It just hit me: there is one good thing left about ER these days. Take
this last episode. I just finished watching it literally not three
minutes ago, and it's already erased about half of itself from my
memory. It's become less of a television show and more of a sensory
deprivation kind of deal, and with no care-abouts left anymore it leaves
no sticky residue in one's mind. Hell, they could start filming it on
that "Mission: Impossible" tape that self-destructs.

But one question before it slips from my memory forever: Why was Queen
Latifa running the ER? She looks like she lost a lot of weight.

If it was Latifa, yes she has. But that was Angela Bassett---and
she'll kick your butt! ;-)

Ah. I should have known that royalty would never stoop so low as to
appear on E.R.

That wasn't Queen Latifah ... it was Gwen Ifill. She's also lost a lot of
weight. I just hope she makes Abby answer the questions, unlike Sarah Palin.

Oh, ok. In that case, I wonder how she has time to moderate all those
presidential debates in which the debaters are not allowed to speak to
each other or look at each other and nobody is allowed follow up
questions and still run a busy emergency department?

She can see Russia from her house!

It wasn't Queen Latifah, it wasn't Gwen Ifill. As someone already
posted, it was Angela Bassett.

<From Reuters:

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - "ER" is adding star power for its
final season. Angela Bassett will join the cast of the medical drama
as a regular in the fall, the first full-time series gig for the Oscar-
nominated star of "What's Love Got to Do With It."

Bassett will play a troubled physician who's coming back to Chicago
after a few years in Indonesia doing tsunami relief. Her arrival in
the second episode promises to shake County General's ER to the core.

Bassett, who starred in Tyler Perry's "Meet the Browns," recently
wrapped the B.I.G. biopic "Notorious."

Maybe...Queen Latifah is too busy playing Gwen Ifill on SNL

Ohhhh, THAT Gwen Ifill. Well, whoever it was, I do have to admit that
as the head of the ER, she was simply the best: In fact, dare I say it,
I posit that she was in fact better than all the rest. I was especially
impressed at how she took the beginning of the show and did it... easy,
but then she did the finish... rough.

That woman is a maverick, that's for sure. I'm guessing in the upcoming
episodes she's gonna take that maverick energy right to the E.R. and use
it to fix its leadership crisis and everything else that's plaguin' that
great E.R. of hers. Clearly she is not afraid to get mavericky in there
and ruffle feathers and not got to allow that. And also, too, the great
Mark Greene.

Ah, come on, Unka Coppy, this was the best episode in years. No Abby,
Neela hotter than ever, a short visit by Anspaugh, four new interns all
at once but no Carter, Sam hotter than ever and no sign of either of
her sons, and a kick-ass new Chief with some sense and a backstory.
What more could you want?
