I am trying to find a scene in this great show. In one episode (maybe
season 6 or 7) Dr. Weaver throws a parent out of the trauma room when
a child is undergoing CPR. She says something like "get her out of
here!". I am a doctor and would like to show a clip of this for a
lecture about the benefits of parents being in the room of a child
undergoing medical procedures. This clip would provide a nice example
of the old practice of keeping families out of resuscitations. Thanks
in advance for your help.

When you talk about great shows, surely you can't be referring to ER.

Surely there must be procedures that you don't want the
parents to witness?

SOMETIMES... even though it may be traumatic for the parent to witness,
having the parents in the room (whatever room it is, ER cubicle, X-Ray
room, et al.) while the child is undergoing a procedure will reassure
and/or calm the child down, enabling the doctor(s) treating the child to
assess and treat the child's injury or illness in a more timely manner.

[Again, I know this thread is weeks old but if the original poster checks
back, this may be useful....]

I seem to recall similar moments in a LOT of ER episodes! I won't go as far
as saying this took place several times per episode but it was certainly
frequent. I feel sure that several episodes per season featured that sort of
a situation, where a family member was lingering in the ER while their loved
one was undergoing emergency treatment. Now, in many cases the person being
treated was an adult but there were certainly cases of children being
treated.

If you have the DVD sets, I'd suggest you just start viewing any season you
have handy and keep your eyes open for a "get him/her out of here!" moment
involving a kid on the treatment table. I doubt you'll have to watch more
than a handful of episodes.....
