We had a collision between two trolley cars on the Green line near
Boston and it occured to me where did all the victims go?

Both cars probably had 200+ people on board, a few were brought
to Newton Wellesly, several were airlifted to MGH, Boston Medical.
At last report one had died and the driver of the second train
was still trapped inside the vehicle after more than three hours.
Many of the passaenger walked from the train to a nearby station,
I have to wonder how many "walking wounded" went home and
really should have been checked out a hospital. Hoepfully
family members will intervene if something looks amiss with these
people.

Whoa.... I think I read earlier about a derailment of the Green Line
in Chicago too. Accidents involving two Green Line Trains in two
different cities in the same day. Freaky.

I'm not familiar with the Chicago line, I lived for years right
near the Green Line in Massachusetts.

There are hints the news the Chicago incident is related to aging
infrastructure.

Not to mention the second medical helicopter crash in, like, a month
happened in Grand Rapids, MI today... ON THE ROOF of a hospital, no less
(the other crash, of a University of Wisconsin Hospital MedFlight
helicopter, happened just outside of La Crosse, WI). Nobody died in
this particular crash in MI, but this crash certainly could have been
catastrophic.

"Bad things happen in threes" or however the saying goes has certainly
been more of a rule lately than an exception.

I read about that. I was half expecting a line about a doctor loosing
his arm or being killed by the helicopter.

We now have a pretty good idea what the cause of the crash was....
a number of reports indicate the driver of the second train was
talking on her cell phone. There may be other contributing factors
but that is one of the unconfirmed reports going around.

OMG... "Stupid is as stupid does" comes to mind here. I hope she gets
sued for a zillion dollars if she WAS on her cell phone.

WTF engineers a train/trolley and talks on a CELL PHONE at the same
time?! Cars are one thing, trains/trolleys are completely another story
when it comes to talking on a cell phone!!!

She can't be sued....she died in the crash.

She was 25 years old and in August of last year she got her dream job,
driving for the MBTA.

As someone who rode that same line for many years I have to say
driving them is not difficult. They are trains, you don't have to
worry about steering, you can only control how fast you go, when you
stop. Turn on lights, open the door, collect fares, are about all
that is involved for the operator. Not a difficult job. And what is
ironic is most of the time she refused to use a cell phone on the
job.
