I found last nights episode to be disturbing:

we had an immigration raid near here and ironically
the company was making stuff for the US Army.

what bugged me about the local raid here is hundreds of
illegal immmigrants were rounded up, families were
split up and many of them were shipped out of state.
Meanwhile the owners/management of the company who
were making big bucks on the backs of these illegal
immigrants got essentially a slap on the wrist.

IMHO don't touch the illegal immigrants until you're
ready to send company management to jail and come down as
hard on them as they do on the illegal immigrants.

In the local case not only did the illegals get deported,
the management got a slap on the wrist, got rewarded
by getting more army contacts, and getting further tax
breaks.

It's that double standard that really gets me.

Oh and did I mention the illegal immigrants should
be stopped at the border before they even get as
far as Chicago?
Maybe

Oh, it happens here in California all the time. What they do is wait
for the mothers to bring their kids to school and then seize them on
their way home. So not only is the kid abandoned at school not
knowing where their mother is at the end of the day but has no other
relatives to come forward and claim the kid as they are usually
illegal too.

It got to the point where the mothers refused to let the kids go to
school for fear they would be arrested too. The schools started
screaming because they had all these abandoned kids and they also had
half the school population not going to school and therefore, they
were losing their funding for having less kids. One of the cities
involved had meetings with the immigration service getting them to
stop the raids on the schools.

Sure, they are illegal but still, leaving the kids abandoned at school
is no solution.

Maybe...and that was kind of the same case last night on ER - the kid
is abandoned at the hospital with the mother going to jail
