Ah - the days when the a.t.e folks were here to lend some praying hands. I
need them again.

Some of you may remember my friend, Susie, who has Cystic Fibrosis. She's 46
and 6 years post-op from lung transplants. They never did take well and
she's back in the ICU. This time may be the last. Her kidneys are shot from
all the anti-rejection meds and antibiotics/anti-fungals and will begin
dialysis soon. Her blood is building up CO2 and she was put on Bi-pap this
morning. They're talking intubation. Her weight is down to about 70 pounds
if wet.

They were trying to build up her weight for another transplant but it's
likely she won't make it to next week - maybe the next. My head is off
kilter and I'm a wreck. They have a wonderful 9 year old son. Please pray
for her to be comfortable and peaceful. She's such a fighter and is scared
of dying.

Absolutely, Sharon. I'll be praying for Susie and all those who love her.

Sharon,

I haven't been in here in a while. I most certainly will be praying for
Susie! And all the rest of you.

God bless,
Lori, who thinks she accidently sent this to you by e-mail by mistake but
posted it here just in case. ;-)

Thanks Lori.

She's been moved from the ICU to the MICU and now to the transplant ICU
which is where the nurses are that know the most about lungs. Unfortunately,
she had a port put in today in advance of dialysis which nixes lung
transplantation, and with CF that's a death sentence at this point.

Sharon, this brings tears to my eyes & I don't even know her. I'm sooo very
sorry for you all. It sounds like she has been to hell & back w/ her
illness. I will keep her in my prayers & hope for an Easter miracle. It
*can* happen.

I popped back in to post a story I found, and spotted this thread
about your friend. I sure do remember her from your posts of years
gone by, and I'll say a prayer for her before I go to sleep tonight.

Peace,

Cory

Thanks Corey. She's been tubed for a couple weeks now and will get trached
tomorrow. Dialysis is now almost a constant and her body temp is low. When
her sedation is lightened to do neuro checks she lets us know she still
wants to fight.

Damn CF.
