I've meaning to post for days. Has anyone been fighting a cold?
Maybe Doc Sharon could suggest the best remedies. You have to be sick
to take TheraFlu. Lately, I've been using store versions of Robitussin
DM. My preferred name is what I say after taking a dose: Yuck!
Jeanne Boulet is a character I've wanted to see again for a long
time. I'm a little fuzzy about when she left. It may have been around
Season 6. This also brings up how much folks keep in touch.
I've managed to keep up with a few former coworkers. Some I
lost due to changes in email addresses. Two I found online. One didn't
remember me.
Apparently Haleh was the only one around who still remembered
her. Frank acted like he didn't know her. Duh, he was a clerk when
Jeanne was around. I seriously doubt that she's never been by County
since.
It's possible that she didn't know about Kerry leaving. Luka and
Abby would have known her. Who else didn't miss Abby? TPTB should have
given her a scene with Anspaugh. After all, she helped care for his
son.
This isn't the first time shows have goofed. One time Sheriff
Taylor visited Gomer Pyle. Apparently everyone forgot that he and Sgt.
Carter had met before. It was in the pilot.
Also, The Facts of Life brought back some Eastland girls from the
first season. Jo acted like they were strangers. Yet these girls
made cameos after being bumped as regulars.
It was nice to get some verbal updates on the old gang. I still
want to see them in person! We also learned that Al died of AIDS. Did
we have the same actor playing Reggie?
I would have liked more background on Jeanne's life post County.
It did seem that Dr. Laura wrote her exit. How long was she a
full-time mom? Did the clinics start out of some part-time work?
Is she getting a salary? Since she and Reggie separated, that
seems likely. Where is the funding coming from: donations, grants,
etc? It does appear that she's went to the other extreme. Those
clinics are taking time away from Carlos. At least she and Reggie are
still on good terms.
Did anyone else think that Jeanne didn't look so good herself?
What are the chances of her getting AIDS too? She seemed a little
ignorant of some procedures. Wouldn't her background cover most of
this stuff? Of course, she's dealing with this as a parent.
I'm surprised that she didn't compare Pratt with Benton.
Ironically, if things go well, she could put in a good word with
Anspaugh. I still rarely read spoilers. So if Jeanne's not scheduled
for a return, please write one soon!
The pictures from Neela's cousin did emphasize the family
atmosphere of County. Frank was right. This place could be in the
dictionary under dysfunctional. One article claimed that only Frank,
Haleh, and Malik are still around from the pilot. Has anyone seen Malik
lately?
Pratt should get the chief job. But there is a paradox. His
experience is good, but lacking in some places. Still, the board has
shown very bad judgment in choosing chiefs lately. I guess Carter
didn't buy them out after all. Skye seems nice. But this job isn't
for her.
I'm so glad that Pratt chose to stay. It's bad enough that
Luka has all but checked out for good. How many more blows can this
show take? Somebody needs to shore up the pillars.
We need moratoriums on love lives here. Neela and Sam aren't
allowed any more romantic interests for awhile. It looked like Sam and
Tony might hook up. I could have done without more antiwar stuff.
Note that adoption wasn't mentioned as an alternative for Beth. Spare
the flames. When was County's last talk on zero tolerance for violence?
At least hang up a NO SHOVING sign.
Harold remains a kid. Will Jazz deflower him next time? Wait
a minute; she hooked up with Morris. It could still happen. Is there
a rule that every guy Neela crosses wants her to work with, and maybe
something else?
Overall, this was one of the season's better episodes. DNA can
prove parentage. But rape will probably not be so easy to prove.
Archie covered most of the main spots. Who else would enjoy an ER tour?
Too bad someone didn't introduce Jeanne to everyone. That would
be a good episode. Which former character is the biggest living legend?
Folks who never met the person still hear the stories. What if the
legend reurns? Stay tuned.

Sincerely,
Darren Thornton

She left in late season five, early 1999.

It sounds like ER handle it realistically then.

---
Actually, Jeanie left in late season five that is spring of 1999. Frank
didn't become a desk clerk until spring of 2000 in the middle of Season
Six, a full year later. Before that he was a police officer and he was
seen only once in the pilot in 1994 as a officer shot. It is possible
that they never crossed paths before. A policeman only spends a short
time in a hospital and I would surmise mostly in the Emergency Room
looking after a wouned suspect, a victim, or a fellow officer mostly.
Also, after Frank was shot he could had been reasigned to another precint
in Chicago and wouldn't had the need to go to county whatsoever. And yes
I think Chuny is the only persons other than Haleh and Anspaugh left she
would recognize. Chuny came aboard in 1995. There has been a lot of turn
over in the past eight years and nine months or so since Jeanie left.

since.
----
Well that is how they are playing it, so that is how it is. This was her
first time back since early 1999. Perhaps her job doesn't require her to
go to any hospitals and she went with her son to other hospitals to have
herself and her son treated. Chicago is a big city.

Yes it is the same actor.

It did seem that Dr. Laura wrote her exit. How long was she a

----
I am sure they did but as I say below it becomes a mission.

seems likely. Where is the funding coming from: donations, grants,
etc? It does appear that she's went to the other extreme. Those
clinics are taking time away from Carlos. At least she and Reggie are

---
I am sure she is getting a stipend. This things become a mission to
people understandably. Her being a health care provider makes her by
nature proactive.
Post by Darren Thornton
Did anyone else think that Jeanne didn't look so good herself?
----
I think it is the pressure of the job she has and of her son's condition
more than the HIV she has herself.
Post by Darren Thornton
What are the chances of her getting AIDS too?
----
Good unfortunately. AIDS isn't the death sentence it once was with both
modern treatments and a selected few having a natural resistance to the
disease, but the odds are still against her.
Post by Darren Thornton
She seemed a little
ignorant of some procedures. Wouldn't her background cover most of
this stuff? Of course, she's dealing with this as a parent.
----
I admit her wondering about things did strike me as odd. I would think
she would know as someone working with AIDS patients even if she no
longer practices as a PA. Parents of children who are potentially
mortally sick are often more up to date on the latest procedures and
treatments than the doctors.

Anspaugh. I still rarely read spoilers. So if Jeanne's not scheduled

I am sure Anspaugh is still greatful for what she did for his son so I
would think her word would carry significant weight.

atmosphere of County. Frank was right. This place could be in the

No, but as long as he is a paid actor on the show...

I forgot what the terms of the by out was for anyway. I can take it or
leave it as to whether Pratt should get the job or not. He should fight
for it for sure.
Post by Darren Thornton

I wouldn't say Luka has checked out. He is just having family problems

Why are you surprised? She is a very beautiful woman. I don't blam
DeBenko et. al. at all. :-)

Overall, this was one of the season's better episodes. DNA can
prove parentage. But rape will probably not be so easy to prove.
---
Not after she was seen smilling with her attacker comming off the plane.
I believe she was raped, but doing that creates reasonable doubt a mile
wide. Physical evidence, in the form of vaginal brusing and tears are
long gone. As an objective juror, without other evidence, I would aquit
her attacker. The only recourse is to have him brought up on charges for
having an relationship with a soldier under his command.
Post by Darren Thornton

Too bad someone didn't introduce Jeanne to everyone. That would

---
Too much time and it would distract from the main story. Archie Morris
questioning who this woman was drove home how long she has been gone. So
did her interactions with Pratt. She didn't know him, she didn't trust
him.

Oh that is easy: Doug Ross, However, only a few people would still be
around to care given the turn over.

Nope, Jeannies last episode was 'The Peace of Wild Things' in mid season 6.
Frank, however, first appeared in 'Such Sweet Sorrow' the second last eppy
of that season, so they didn't know each other.

Abby's first episode was 'Great Expectations' the same season but she didn't
come to work in the ER until 'Abby Road' later after Jeannie had left.

And, yes, it is very sad that I know all that without looking any of it up.

Okay, that is what I get for relying just on my memory; but I am glad
that I at least got the year right; and more importantly I was right
about Boulet and Frank not meeting. Here is confirmation of what you
said. Look under departure:

Why? It is a show that you like, never be ashamed of that, especially
since you do have a life doing something important i.e. being a REAL
doctor.

I'm not ashamed of it, I just wish my memory was better for things like
phone numbers instead of trivial details about TV shows.

No but the relatives we visited in Chicago for New Year's were. I told them
to get some Mucinex and they already had some NyQuil. They're a bunch
better now.

That stuff is nasty! I'd have to be dying in order to take it. Blech!

She left just before Carol had her babies in S6. Remember, she was invited
to come to the *suprise* baby shower but instead just smiled and walked out.

Chuny remembered her, too. Frank wouldn't have known her. She was gone
before he came on board.

I could see her not going there and then again, I can see her having to go
there to visit somebody--if no one else but one of her patients from the
clinic.

To me it was a little "off" that she wasn't up to speed on some of the
stuff. She is/was (?) a PA and now runs two HIV clinics. So yeah, it was a
little weird.
