Apparently County's not like riding a bike. You have to
readjust. Remember Susan and Chen. This episode was OK. It's still
good to have Carter back. But things aren't the same.
My pastor has compared a local church to being on a bus.
Some people get off. They may get back on later. But the bus won't be
at the same place. This is also true of a hospital.
It's understandable that Carter might not be up on some
changes. But would he be that out of touch? He could probably get
medical journals sent to Africa. Then again some supplies may not be
available there.
It seemed very strange to have Tony act as the expert. Using the
oxygen chamber was a big risk. Did anyone not think of Michael Jackson?
There was also the surgery. But some of the risks paid off. TV Guide
once described student Carter as a malpractice suit in the making.
That's a paraphrase.
We saw some blood. His kidneys are failing. He alluded to the
stabbing. It's a story that might have been told to newer folks.
There was also a disease caught in Africa. =A0 Now he needs a new
kidney. Will he use his wealth to get one? As County's longtime kid,
this illness will bring more of the old gang back. It makes a better
catalyst than closing down County. That's been done before.
Cate showed compassion and understanding toward Carter. Suppose
he'd returned before her flashback moment? We also saw her checking
out adoption. Russell showed some spunk. Don't insult his lady!
The saga of Brennan and Lucy continued. He overreacted toward her
foster dad. Most people stay covered up, even with their own family.
Ironically, foster care may be Cate and Russell's best adoption.
=A0Brennan is still dealing with his own abuse. =A0
Neela is growing through some changes. She had a fight with
Neela. Who wants that extra ticket to Venice? Now she's also
planning to leave County. DuBenko's arguments were actually a
compliment. A Facts of Life episode came to mind. Jo took her
journalism teacher's criticism too personally. She did a story linking
him to a drug bust. He was innocent, but had to resign. His
criticism was due to her having some talent.
There were two more mentions of the number fifteen. We had Frank
recommending burial plots as a romantic gesture. Barney Fife once got
offered one by a would be in-law.
Morris should give advice more carefully. He was right. GPS
systems aren't perfect. One caused an argument with the couple in Baby
Blues. Does anyone cut those tags? I hope that Morris didn't get a
bill. Watch out for mopeds! Many rules are actually good.
Then there is claudia. She has a new partner. The hazing may be
more fallout from last time. Should things move forward? She appears
to be nice. I just hope things go well on all fronts.
Sam got a good lesson in not waiting too long. Her mother
didn't recognize her. Will that change later? We got a nice moment
with the lullaby. Maybe fake Alex will stop by later. Who knows? I'm
more interested in the real old gang.

Sincerely,
Darren Thornton

I loved the way they stuck some humor in there (the way Carter teased
Cate)..........I miss the old ER. :-( With the old gang, at least we
got a well-rounded episode.

So how far back would they have to go to get the "old gang" you'd like to see?
