Assuming there's anyone still out there:

Well that's it then. I've seen better finales, but I've seen far worse
too. TEERPTB get a solid "C" here. At least they had the good sense to
simply parade as many of the old characters from when the show was good
in front of the camera as they could scrape together with no particular
direction. The last scene was mostly letdown though, except for
bringing back the old song. Then again, that was almost insulting now
that I think of it.

Two questions though:

- I missed the first 15 minutes; Did Kerry get any screech time?
- Why was Rory from "The Gilmore Girls" there? Seemed a bit of a
strained crossover.

This is ER/The Gilmore Girls finale crossover that Rory graduated
from medical school and becomes a doctor.

Not only that they replicated with Archie Morris the opening scene of
Dr. Greene sleeping in an office and Nurse Lydia Wright waking him up
in "24 Hours" the very first episode.

Which I found to be ridiculous. I found it INCREDIBLY hard to believe
that they were comparing or drawing parallels between ARCHIE, of all

But he was the right one to do it too. After all he was the recipent of
the "You Set the Tone" speach from Carter when Carter left. I was
expecting Dr. Wise to get that one from Archie when she was freaking out

That was a nice touch, along with them self-consciously making the
finale occur over 24 hours (more or less).

They also brought back a few things from the first season (or at least
early seasons):

"When did it stop raining?" (I *think* that line came up several times
in the pilot.)

The kid plaintively asking "Where's my mom?" (Not to be confused with
"Are you my mummy?")

"Hallucinating trombone guy". The weird quotient of this episode
certainly seemed to be the highest it's been in a long time.

Aaaaand, of course, the Delivery From Hell (which had the two-fer of a
character named after one of the crew).

Don't forget the newbie Doc freaking out about the pace of the ER. I was
waiting the whole 2nd hour practically for Archie to give someone the
"You Set the Tone" speach.

I find it interesting that two episodes ago Carter comes dragging in from
Africa, sicker than a dog, needing a kidney transplant and then presto he
has built a multi-million dollar facility for the medical treatment of the
poor and homeless. Did he plan and oversee this via his Blackberry???

And Kem--get over it girl. You guys lost a baby FIVE YEARS ago. If you
wanted a child that bad, you are two healthy individuals (except for Carters
apparently minor kidney transplant) have another kid for crying out loud.
Not to replace "Joshua" but to enjoy the living and get on with your life.
How much misery and pain can you drag out of one tragic episode in your
life?

I did enjoy seeing Rachel as a grown up responsible individual, except that
I think she was supposed to be four when the series started--that would make
her just 19 instead of 22. Oh well, the college graduate wannabe a medical
student was a nice touch.

Reese looked good. Glad to see Peter still a committed father.

It wasn't a crossover, unless she legally changed her last name from
Gilmore to Wise, cause she stated that her name was Dr. Wise on at
least a coupla occasions

He's been stateside a few times over the past 6 years, it's been
referenced a few times, and it was nearing completion, which was part of
why he was back in Chicago. His first episode back, he even stopped to
look at it before going to Dyalasis.

Some people don't heal that quick, and it's been quite clear that the
incident put quite a strain on John & Kem's relationship. I forget when
they actually got Married, but it was well in to the pregnancy wasn't it?
Or did they ever show it on the screen even? Seems like they have
always been on a bit of shakey ground from day one of the relationship.

Yvonne Zima (First Rachel) was 5 when she was on the show, don't know
that the age was stated, because that was a lifetime ago it seems like.
She's 20 now. Hallee Hirsh is 22, so the age is consistant with the
actresses, if a little high for Zima, but since Hirsh was the returning
Rachel (would have been too Rosanne for Zima to have done it) it's her
age. Time passes oddly in TVland too. I mean Christmas always is at
the right time of year and some episodes cover several days, while
sometimes it take 2 episodes to move a few hours. (The stabbing episodes
for instance)

There is no timetable for grief. It doesn't matter that it was 5 years ago.
Kem's statement was that it was difficult for her to be "there" - being the
center or Chicago. Why wouldn't it be difficult? I lost several pregnancies,
and even after 3 healthy babies I still have issues driving by the one
hospital I had to go to to deal with the most difficult and that was over 16
years ago.

Whatever separated Kem and Carter, I believe, is more than just the baby.

Yup the relationship was very new when Kem discovered she was pregnant and
they moved along faster than either one of them was ready for. Carter had
just gotten out of the dysfunctional mess that was Carby just a few months
earlier. During the pregnancy itself, it was obvious that they didn't know
each other very well and that they hadn't spent enough time sharing their
dreams. Carter bought a house in Chicago and wanted to live there with Kem
at least part of the time while she didn't know anyone in Chicago and was
devoted to her work in Africa. That's a pretty big difference right there
and one that they still don't seem to have resolved. I don't get the
impression that Carter wants to cut all ties to Chicago while Kem doesn't
seem to want to live there. The fact she apparently didn't come when she
heard Carter had had a kidney transplant doesn't bode well, either.

We were never told when they got married, it happened offscreen after the
baby died. When Pratt went to Africa in Luka's place several years ago,
Carter was wearing a wedding ring and referred to her as his wife.

First, let me state, I AM NOT A CARBY! But I saw Carter & Kem's
relationship
just like you stated up there. I never bought it. It was rushed & I
didn't think it would work. It was forced. They had no chemistry.
Carter & Abby had a "little" chemistry but I was not for that
relationship, either. Of all the people Carter hooked up w/ over the
years, I would've picked for him either Harper (Christine Elise) or
Elaine (Rebecca DeMornay). (but I lean more toward Harper) :-)
