Post by SoHillsGuyPost by SoHillsGuyPost by DLCandCI don't know about you guys but I thoroughly enjoyed tonight's
eppy!!! Seeing most of the original cast and hearing about their
current lives. It was awesome. Was kinda funny when Doug, Neela and
Sam realized they had a connection through County but they didn't know
any of the same people 'cept for Anspaugh. ;-)
But I still don't understand why Neela (or Sam) didn't say something
like, "Oh, yeah, a former doctor just came back....John Carter. Know
him?"
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Exactly. That was a ludicrous bit of manipulation by the writers. Doug Ross
mentions every doctor but Carter? Might it have something to do with the
fact that the two women were there for Carter's new kidney, and the writers
thought it would be cutely ironic that Doug and Carol never knew that?
To be fair, they were in Seattle for the heart, and were only asked to
drop off the kidney to the other hospital, as well.
It could be assumed that Sam and Neela didn't even know who the kidney
was going to, with confidentiality issues and all. (Even more, do
they know that Carter even needs one? I'd have to check last week's
episode to see who was around when he collapsed and who found out
why.)
Still, it doesn't explain why Neela didn't bring up his name, though.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
There was no way that either of them knew who the kidney was going to. Even
if they knew Carter was on the kidney list at Northwestern, there are
hundreds of people on that list at any given time; the odds that Carter was
a match for the kidney, let alone high enough on the list to get it, were
very small.
In real life, there are people working for the organ banks who go to pick
up the organs, not doctors and nurses from the recipients' hospitals. And,
of course, ogans are distributed by region and it's unlikely that any organs
harvested in Seattle would be going to Chicago in the first place. However,
it provided a really organic means of incorporating present day Doug and
Carol into the plot, so I forgice it. Why would a doctor or nurse be needed
to act as courier? Neela wasn't going to do the surgery, Sam didn't have a
patient to care for en route. And, the fact that both of them, especially
Neela, had been very involved in caring for the potential recipient made
them poorly suited to retrieving the organ.
I presume Doug didn't ask about Carter since he probably had last heard
Carter was in Africa. Carter had only come back to Chicago recently. And,
since Carter had so recently returned and only worked a few shifts at that
point, maybe Neela and Sam didn't remember. I know if I was standing face
to face with the incendiary hotness of George Clooney, I wouldn't be able to
remember my own name, let alone those of my coworkers. I figure they were
struck speechless at the sight of him.
All in all, it was a terrific eppy though, I enjoyed it a lot. GC and JM
slipped right back into character without missing a beat. Loved that Carol
has moved into the position of Transplant Coordinator, she was always
looking to expand her horizons as a nurse. And she kept her name at work!
Also liked the sly way TPTB let us know they were married as we got a good
view of GC's third finger, left hand complete with wedding band as he held
up the X-ray.
Benton and Carter were also perfection, loved Benton's persistence in
getting Carter to call Kem. They, too, fell right back into their roles.
It was like old school ER all over again. As a fan from the start, I am so
grateful that TPTB and the actors respected the show and the viewers enough
to give us the chance to see them all over again. Loved it!!!!

Hey, everyone.
I just watched this ep & I had to come see you guys. :)
Clooney's name in the opening credits.
I absolutely loved the interaction between Benton and Carter. Benton
treated Carter just like he used to. I was sad when Carter indicated
Benton kept pushing Carter to call her.
Wow, Reese is 13. I didn't think it was that far back. I've watched
every ep since Day One and would have put Reese at maybe 10. At least
no one got to complain about Cleo being wooden.
the region, since it meant we got to see Carol and Doug together. I
about the girls, was great. How old would the twins be now? I remember
one was named Tess. What was her sister's name?
I am sad that ER is coming to a close. I invested a lot of myself into
the show. I've watched it longer than I have done anything else in my
life. I know some people stopped watching after a favorite character
Luka!!!), I have always loved the show as a whole. Actors have come
the same way.
And I had a lot of fun reading and posting to this group. I made a
close to, but have kept in touch with over the years.
