I know she wanted more because she did not want them to give her the
hysterectomy. But I know a lot of people who want more kids and are
not able to have them. And adoption is not easy either. The mother can
change her mind, there is a lot of money and time and paperwork
involved. And Doug and Carol are both very busy with two girls and
working

Was Carol still a nurse? I could not tell when they were shown in
Seattle a few weeks back. She was not wearing a nurses uniform
anymore. And I wondered about that. It seemed like she was working for
the organ transplant team. And Doug did not seem to be working in peds
anymore either. Kind of sad!

Doug was the kid's regular doctor, his pediatrician and had been
treating him his whole life. And I'm sure Carol just works part time
for the transplant team.

Maybe...but, we'll never know!

Carol seemed to be transplant coordinator for the hospital, which is a
full-time job and often filled by a nurse, usually one with at least a
Master's. In addition to speaking to families and coordinating organ
harvests, her job would also include keeping track of the hospital's donor
lists including having at least a passing knowledge of each candidate's
situation. She would also be organizing educational opportunities both
within the medical field as well as in the local community; giving speeches,
answering questions, arranging speaking engagements for the docs,
overseeing the training for all of the transplant team nurses, etc,
coordinating outpatient care for the patients upon release from the
hospital. Seattle is a major transplant center and she'd be plenty busy.
