OT ~ Some ISPs dropping alt.* newsgroup hierarchy...

I stole this from another newsgroup, because the author of this post
wrote this more clearer than I ever could... I just thought you might
wanna know what you're up against if you subscribe from any of these
ISPs.

Verizon, Sprint and Time Warner Cable, possible more, are dropping any
newsgroup that does not include the so-called Big 8 from their Usenet
servers:

comp.*
misc.*
news.*
rec.*
sci.*
soc.*
talk.*
humanities.*

The entire alt.* hierarchy is specifically being targetted. This means
that this NG and others like it will have much less traffic than before.

I would point out it's easier to just trash all of usenet than
just get rid of copyright infringement and porn.

You can still use Google, Forte Agent's news server, and others.

Verizon and others just won't pay for it.

For now. First they come for the ISPs that want to shed it, then they
go after the commercial providers like Google, which has already proven
its readiness to roll over for China, and Giganews, Supernews, et al
which can't afford the eternal legal bills they'd face no matter how
unconstitutional the attack on them is.
