My Thoughts On The Heart

It's good to be back! I noticed that hardly anyone posted about the
last pre-strike episode. It was one of the worst. At least someone
called Julia's bluff. I half expected her to check out for good.
This was a wasted opportunity. Some hospitals probably have
chaplains for different faiths. I'd want one who's on a definite side,
yet respects the others. Is there any chance the 7th Heaven writers
were involved? Eric Camden was unlike any minister I've ever
encountered.
Surprise, Julia's gone. I don't miss her a bit. But we now
have Tony with Sam. This goes into the top 10 worst ER hookups. My
list includes Mark and Elizabeth, along with Peter and Cleo. Carol
could be there for both Tag and Shep.
Once again, we need a moratorium on new characters. Will Skye
return? Brennan has no business in a teaching hospital. I'd sure love
to sic Morganstern on him. There should be a rule of only opening with
established characters. I'd rather not be confused right off. We
have plenty of time for that. Besides, my old TV still acts up on
occasion. It's unlikely ER will be winning any new fans.
Will we learn of a conspiracy to keep Pratt from being chief?
If so, please don't use the race angle. This show could probably
revive if Pratt got put in front. He's one of the few characters
remaining you still care about. Bettina, answer the phone! Or maybe
he'll date the new student.
If any new characters are added, let it be someone from HR.
That would be interesting. Brennan needs to go join a private
practice. He had some skills for breaking up fights. That was a nice
idea of agressive librarians. Is his type what I'm missing by not
watching House? Aren't there some incidents where he could advise on
hair and makeup?
Still, the worst part was about Luka and Abby. I hate seeing
him quit County. It's a wonder he hadn't already been fired. The
flashbacks once again reminded us how far the show has fallen. Suppose
we got no reruns or DVD releases until the show finally ended. Those
early years can be a long running show's worst enemy.
I almost didn't recognize Janet without her usual do. She's
always been someone that shot straight. Don't mess with her. Abby
remains Super Selfish. Too bad her mom couldn't return. But she has
another family-on ABC.
Will we see Luka return and beat up Moretti? Don't make the same
mistake with Doug and Carol. Let these two exit together! Suppose JM
had signed another contract. Would Carol and Luka gotten married
instead? I was surprised to learn that TAGS offered Betty Lynn another
storyline to stay. But she felt that Thelma Lou didn't make much sense
without Barney.
We got a good example of why transplant information should
remain confidental. There was a chance that Jordan and Mia could have
fallen in love for real. What if the heart had been given to a man or
older woman? How about any other organs? It was still very sad.
Tony and Sam should have stuck to this. No, we got that awful makeout
scene.
Sadly, my favorite part was Morris and the taser. At least he
enjoys being a doctor. Too bad Brennan didn't volunteer. Neela was
underused, but good during these scenes. Yea to Frank not being a fan
of Nazi doctors!
Apparently the writers didn't work on scripts much during the
strike. Would things have been different if it hadn't occured? I
hate when characters disappear with no explanation. That applies,
even if they're not working out.
Tony's been involved with: Meg, Neela, Julia, and now Sam.
Take a break! Ironically, Barney Fife was also involved with:
Rosemary, Hilda May, and Juanita. That was just the first season!
Will any of these guys be so fondly remembered 40 years later? I doubt
it.

Sincerely,
Darren Thornton

Darren - it's good to read your commentary. Are you writing about a
pre-strike eppy of long ago? When did this episode air?
